Teacher Appreciation

After virtual learning and more, we can all agree that our teachers are amazing and irreplaceable! Below is a list of ideas to celebrate this year while still social distancing plus how we’ve celebrated in past years.

Send a Note

Teachers love hearing from their students. You can have students fill out this page and draw a picture of their teacher. Free Printable below!

Gift of the Day

For the week, the students brought in a different item for each day. On Monday, the students brought in chocolate. On Tuesday, each one brought a piece of fruit to create a fruit basket for their teacher. Flowers or plants were brought in on Wednesday followed by an item for their desk on Thursday, and to wrap up the week, their teacher was showered with handwritten notes!

Send an eGift

Send your teacher an eGift Certificate such as Starbucks, Netflix, Hulu, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, Kindle, iTunes, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and Target are great quarantine gifts that will be appreciated! You can also send flowers or treats delivered directly to them if you know their address!

Record a Digital Message

You can send your teacher a video clip with your student telling them what they miss about their class, what they like most about them as a teacher or one of their favorite memories!

We’re having our class send us video clips that we’re then consolidating into one video to show at our Friday video class.

Imitation is the Best Form of Flattery…!

A fun idea is to have students impersonate their teacher — they can even dress up like them or wear a signature item, like glasses or a favorite sports team/color shirt in the video.

Get Creative

Draw a picture, make a craft, write a poem, sing a song… Your teacher will love it!

Bring the Celebration to Them!

If you have your teacher’s address, you can decorate their street or sidewalk with chalk, post yard signs or organize a car parade, while still social distancing!

Make your own chalk paint by mixing food coloring + equal parts Corn Starch and Water (we did 1/2 cup of each + coloring)!

A SUPER Teacher Appreciation Week

One year, we had a Superhero-themed Teacher Appreciation week filled with super activities. On the first day, the teachers arrived at school to see the hallways decorated with tall buildings and their students as superheroes flying through the sky (we used the template below).

Next, we set up a super breakfast filled with superfoods to give them strength for the day. Midweek, they received a Superhero-themed lunch with superhero cookies and SOUPer soup!

Each of the teachers received a Superhero Kit with capes and masks. They all wore the outfits for the day, which the kids LOVED, and we took a group photo that we framed and gave as a gift at the end of the week.

A SUN-sational Teacher Appreciation Week

For our SUN-sational themed Teacher Appreciation week, we decorated the hallways for summer starting with a beach ball archway at the entrance, palm trees and flamingos!

Similar to the Superhero week, we lined the hallways with the student’s sunshine to brighten the teachers week — we used the template below. We also gave the teachers fun summer-themed tote bags filled with leis, grass skirts, sun hats and jumbo sunglasses. They wore their outfit one day and we took a picture that was framed and given to them as a gift.

We also included post-it notes with pens for parents to write special notes on then stick to the walls for the teachers to read throughout the week.

The teachers received a special summer BBQ lunch and at the end of the week were given flowers with gift certificates for pedicures plus flip flops to show off their freshly painted toes!

Rolling Out the Red Carpet During Teacher Appreciation Week

Our plan for Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 was to roll out the red carpet and celebrate Hollywood style (boas and sunglasses!); however, our celebration has changed to a virtual one.

We had the students decorate stars for the Walk of Fame using the template below, and send us video clips saying what they love most about their teachers. We’ve consolidated the clips into a movie that we’ll premiere on our Friday class call.

We’re also sending a classroom gift: an egift card for DoorDash and streaming movies so they can have a dinner and movie night in the comfort of their home.

At-Home Hollywood Party

I already had the Hollywood-themed decorations so we pulled them out to have a Fancy Friday Hollywood-themed evening. We recreated the Hollywood sign on our windows using Kraft Paper and faux boxwoods, had the feather centerpieces from our Fall Studio 54 event paired with some New Years decorations and table settings from a previous party.

We even pulled out our red carpet and Photo Booth that we used from last year’s masquerade that our girls turned into a catwalk.

My husband loves to cook and went a little over the top with the menu (not pictured: Banana Flambé) . Our older girls added “Oscar” cookies and popcorn (of course)!

  1. I seriously love your site.. Excellent colors & theme. Did you make this web site yourself? Please reply back as I’m hoping to create my own personal site and would love to find out where you got this from or exactly what the theme is called. Many thanks!
